Welcome to the SSC app. This app provides you with a glossary of over 1000 subject-specific terms in British Sign Language. The subjects covered are Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics and Physics.

Home Page

When you first open the app you will be on the home page where you will see all the subjects within the app. If you are looking for a specific term you can search for it using the Search in every category area at the top of the screen.

An important area to visit is the Settings area, to get here you will need to pull down on the home screen and you will reveal the options for settings.

Now you are ready to start exploring the app. From here you can select a subject you want to see, once you press on one you will see a list of subtopics related to that Subject, these are here to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for. If you would rather see a list of terms for the whole subject simply choose View full list. You can also see BSL videos for sub-topics by pressing and holding on them.

Pressing on a sub-topic or View full list will show you a list of terms. You will see two options at the bottom of the screen for Favourites and Offline you can toggle these on and off to show terms that you have favourited or already downloaded to your phone.

Pressing on a term will reveal the BSL videos. The top video is for the term itself and the bottom one is for a definition of the term, you can read the definition underneath the video in written English if you wish. Some terms will have a Related term that may be worth checking out, any related terms will be displayed at the bottom of the page and you can press on them to open the related term.
