BSL Astronomy Glossary - asteroid belt - definition

Definition: The Asteroid Belt lies in our solar system, between Mars and Jupiter, separating the four inner planets from the four outer ones. It is made up of left over material from the formation of our solar system. After the planets formed, the residual pieces of rock formed the Asteroid Belt.
