BSL Astronomy Glossary - deneb - definition

Definition: Deneb is the brightest star in the constellation of Cygnus, the swan, and it is thought to represent the swan’s tail. It is one of the three bright stars that make up the star pattern, the Summer Triangle. The Summer Triangle is easily located in southern skies during the summer months and each of the three bright stars that make the star pattern belongs to a different constellation: the star Altair in the constellation of Aquila, the star Vega in the constellation of Lyra and, thirdly, Deneb in the constellation of Cygnus.
