BSL Astronomy Glossary - mars - definition

Definition: One of the inner planets in our solar system, Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. It is a rocky planet made up of high quantities of iron (Fe), which gives it its distinctive red colour and has meant people sometimes call it the "red planet". Mars has two small moons, indicated in the BSL sign, each of which orbits the planet independently from the other.
