BSL Astronomy Glossary - taurus - definition

Definition: A constellation is a group of stars and Taurus is a constellation that looks a little bit like a bull. By tracing a line upwards to the right, through the three stars of Orion's belt, it is easily identifiable by a group of bright stars which form a "V" shape, representing the face of the bull. Above the "V" shape lie two bright stars that represent the tips of the bull's horns. As shown in the video, when imaginary lines are added to connect the stars in the constellation, it more clearly resembles a bull. It is even easier to understand why this constellation was thought to look like a bull when an artist's impression is added.
