BSL Biology Glossary - camouflage - definition

Definition: A moth uses camouflage. It looks grey and mottled. If a predator like a bird flies near, the moth stays still on the bark of the tree. Its wings look the same colour as bark of the tree so the bird doesn't see it. The bird flies away. The moth has been saved by its camouflage.
