BSL Chemistry Glossary - group - Definition

Here we have the Periodic Table and you can see the numerous different atoms and elements displayed and each has its own Atomic Number.

Highlighted in red is an example of a Group and this is Group 1. Next to it (again highlighted in red) is Group 2. As we go along we see Group 3; then Group 4; Group 5 and then? Yes, you've worked it out - Group 6; Group 7 and then Group 8 which is sometimes referred to as Group 0.

The elements in each of these groups have similar chemical properties.
