BSL Chemistry Glossary - metal - definition

Translation: The metals are the main group of elements on the periodic table. They are on the left and in the middle. You won't find all metals in the table, for example steel is a metal that isn't on the periodic table. This is because steel is a mixture of the elements iron (Fe) with Cr (Chromium) and Nickel (Ni). The metals that are on the periodic table are all elements. All metals conduct electricity well. They are also all shiny materials and most of them are silvery in colour. There are two exceptions: copper (Cu), which is brown, and gold (Au), which is yellow.
