BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Anaerobic process definition

Definition: An example of an anaerobic process is what happens in a peat bog. It contains a lot of CO2, carbon dioxide because there is no oxygen present. So there's an acidic mixture of carbon dioxide and water. If the water was drained off, there would only be carbon dioxide left, polluting the atmosphere as it's a greenhouse gas.
