BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Hydrogen economy definition

Definition: The hydrogen economy is linked to looking for alternative ways to produce electricity. It is proposed that hydrogen gas, produced by electrolysing water, could be used as the main fuel to meet a country's energy demands. Storing excess energy will help to meet the demand. The stored hydrogen could be used directly to power vehicles, e.g. buses. They use hydrogen as fuel to produce electricity to help move the bus.
