BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Ionising radiation definition

Definition: Ionising radiation can be found in the earth or from places like hospitals that use it. Positive ions are decharged to negative, and the reverse happens as well – negative ions recharged back into positive. Radiation is emitted from the earth upwards and outwards. The sun does the same downwards, so there is radiation going in both directions.
