Definition:A pheromone trap is a trap that attracts organisms using the scent of pheromones. For example, growing vegetables in the garden can be difficult when there are many caterpillars. They destroy the vegetables. A pheromone trap will be helpful. Female moths produce pheromones which are attractive to males. Using pheromones on a sticky trap helps to catch the male moths. This will help reduce the male moths' population – i.e. stop breeding and produce fewer offspring (i.e. caterpillars).
