Definition: Surber sampler is a method of sampling aquatic invertebrates. You can use the Surber sampler in a low-level river. You have a special net that you put down on a specific area in the river, and you can collect and investigate the invertebrates in this particular square. The water will flow through the net and pick up the invertebrates. In the square, the rocks/stones/pebbles are disturbed to release the invertebrates - you can either lift the rocks or kick the stones, and the invertebrates will get trapped in the net. You can pour them into a tray and look at the invertebrates closely.
