BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Sweep nets definition

Definition: Sweep net is a method of sampling populations of flying insects and invertebrates among vegetation. You walk in a straight line with a large net and sweep it across the path as you go along. This will help to trap the insects, and you can look at them to help to know what is commonly found in this area.
