BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Synapse definition

Definition: At the end of a nerve cell, there is a synapse and a gap between it and the next nerve cell. Nerve signals travelling up a nerve cell must cross the gap between the synapses in order to travel along the nerve cell chain.
