BSL Geography Glossary - Tornado - definition

Definition: Tornados occur during large thunder storms. Tornados have very high wind speeds and are funnel-shaped. Tornados occur in central USA, which is known as “Tornado Alley” due to the frequent nature of the storms. Here, houses have special basements or storm shelters, to provide shelter from tornados.
