BSL Physics Glossary - digital - definition

Translation: A digital signal is one which is either on or off. You can see an example of a digital signal on a modern watch face. The time changes, for example, from 12:30 suddenly to 12:31. This is different from old-fashioned analogue watch faces where the hands move slowly round continuously. The sign for digital shows that the signal goes on and off.
