SSC Courses - Coming up ...
Tuesday, 28 January, 2014
Venue: Auchterderran Centre, Fife
An audiology update will be provided at this event, but the main focus of the day will be to look at new equipment and its use in educational and social settings. The event is targeted for those involved with mainstream pupils who are deaf or hearing impaired in the upper primary and early secondary age range.
The main part of the day is aimed at professionals and parents but may be of interest to a pupil who uses technology to support a hearing loss: one free pupil place is available per full cost participant.
*NB: from 3.30 pm - 5 pm: the day will be opened up for the young people and other invited youngsters to meet up informally to try out some of the equipment including SMART Boards, X-box, Wii. Invitations will be circulated separately for this part of the day but all course participants are welcome to stay.
Closing date: 13 January 2014
Presenters: Brian Shannan, DHT/Educational Audiologist, Sensory Support Service, Glenrothes and representatives from Health and equipment providers.

CHARGE pack for practitioners
Sense has created a new pack of information aimed at practitioners working with children and young people with CHARGE syndrome. Each topic area has been written by an established authority on the subject. It was requested by families who continually find themselves having to explain CHARGE each time they meet a new professional. The pack is downloadable as individual factsheets from the Sense website at www.sense.org.uk/chargepack. It is intended that parents and carers will download the relevant factsheet or factsheets and give them to practitioners as and when they come into contact with the family.
- Email email@example.com if you would like to know more.
The Library will be closed along with the centre from the end of Friday 21st December and open again on 3rd January 2014. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our members!
