BSL Astronomy Glossary - procyon - definition

Definition: Procyon is the brightest star in the constellation of Canis Minor, the small dog and it is believed to represent the dog’s hindquarters. As shown in the video illustration, it can be found in the night sky by first identifying the three stars that make up Orion’s belt then looking above them to find the two stars which represent his shoulders and extending a line to the left, until you encounter the constellation of Canis Minor where Procyon is the brightest star.
