BSL Astronomy Glossary - spica - definition
Definition: Spica is the brightest star in the constellation of Virgo, the woman. The star represents the bunch of flowers the woman is holding in her hand, which can be seen more clearly when the imaginary lines and artist’s impression are added to the video. Spica can be found in the night sky by using the Plough. Follow an arc downwards, through the three stars that make up the plough’s handle, until you come to Arcturus, the brightest star in the constellation of Bootes, and continue the arc downwards until you come to the next bright star, which is Spica.
