BSL Biology Glossary - environmental impact/change - Definition & Examples

Translation: An example is factories producing polluting smoke or giving off poisonous waste which runs off into rivers, polluting the water and killing the fish. The fish die because they cannot breathe as the pollution cuts off the oxygen and so suffocates them.

Another example is when trees in a beautiful forest disappear because they are all cut down. The clouds above the forest also disappear because the trees have gone, which causes the local climate to change. This is environmental impact.

Definition: Anything you see in the environment that has changed, been damaged, that is environmental impact.
