BSL Maths Glossary - standard form - Definition (symbol n x 10n or 10-n)
Standard form or Scientific notation is a shorter form of writing very large
or very small numbers (with many digits after the decimal point.)
You would write the first digit of the number and then a decimal point and multiply to the power of the number of digits falling after the decimal.
If it is a very small number and the decimal is being moved down then it would be multiplied to the power minus the number of digits.
