Re-read handouts and view DVD again.
To listen carefully.
Take time out to listen to parents and children.
Daily basis in any interaction.
Reflect on my present practice and make changes in light of what I have learned.
This has helped me to think about my own practice especially on having to be a better listener.
To take time to think about my approach to newly diagnosed families.
I will reflect on my own practice. Feedback to colleagues but most importantly encourage them to do a similar course.
Reflect practice.
Being more reflective in dealing with parents and children.
Listen more - its about them. Stop being the rescuer.
Take knowledge to enhance my skills when working with families.

A real understanding about what to do/not to do. Hearing from parents of HI children as well as professionals.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

More time.
Maybe timing - December a very busy time in schools - earlier in the month?
Break in the morning.
More moving around, very difficult to sit still on hard chairs.

I found it very emotional being the parent of a deaf 9 year old.
