How will you use what you have learned today?

I will consider more closely the variety of systems available and in addition how they would benefit individual pupils.
Take back to school and show other staff.
Use of Bluetooth and benefit of Soundfield and FM.
Return to school with information on new equipment available.
Feedback to colleagues the potential uses of sound technology with all pupils.
I’m more familiar with various types of equipment that could be used with FM systems/hearing aids, therefore I will find it easier to select the right equipment for my pupils.
As a Family Officer I can advise families on available technology and I feel I have a better understanding of listening in general.
Use of Bluetooth in classroom setting.
Feedback to team.
Explore use of FM/Soundfield in wider contexts and with different equipment.
Really interested in Bluetooth.
Much needed audiology update – all the technology available.

What was best about the course/event?

Raised awareness of technology available.
Hands on – practical with different equipment. (5)
Speaking to others about possible uses of equipment.  Learning how equipment is beneficial to hearing pupils (ADHD).
Practical and theory both used. Practical sessions helped to make sense of the theory.
The practical experience – having the chance to hear what HA users hear.
Brian’s presentation. (2) Evidence of Soundfield in action.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

Possibly some more time to form an understanding of some aspects of sound to noise issues.
This may not be appropriate but the venue – Edinburgh SSC is far more accessible.
Possibly some pre-course reading – the majority of the audience have prior knowledge, but for novices like me, a bit of advice re what to know beforehand would have been great.
Location – not easy to access when travelling far – main train line location would have been better please.
The technology was impressive – didn’t all work at the right time – guess that’s like real life.
