Took place on Friday 11-Sunday 13 June 2010

Possibly the most effective way to improve the learning experience of signing deaf children is to improve the signing skills of their teachers or support workers. Due to the success of the BSL immersion weekend which took place in June 2008 it has been decided to repeat this in June 2010. The weekend included various activities led by experienced deaf BSL tutors designed to improve BSL vocabulary and skills.

(Quote from evaluations from last time)

"Tour showed students how to explain objects, how to start, position of person going into detail. Made the exercise fun and interesting. Thought the tutors were great interacting with students at all times. ... All tutors knowledge is first class."

Target Audience: Teachers of the Deaf, Communication Support Workers, Parents and others interested in improving their BSL skills.

Course Requirement: Participants' skill level should be around Signature (CACDP) Level 2 BSL. As the course is designed to improve users' skills interpreters will not be in attendance.

Presenters include: John Hay OBE, Wolverhampton University,
Beth Harte and Ronnie Harte, Deaf Perspectives Glasgow
