This introductory course gave participants an overview of on-body signing - what it is, as well as when and how to use it.
On-body signing is a method of signing that has a reference on the body. It is particularly appropriate for children who are visually impaired and have complex additional support needs. It is also appropriate for many children who have Cerebral Visual Impairment with additional needs. This course incorporated theory and practical elements.
Participants left the session with a core vocabulary of signs that they will be able to use in their own setting.
Please note that this was a repeat of the course that was first offered in January 2022.
Teaching and non-teaching staff in special schools, staff in Nursery where there are children with (C)VI and complex additional needs, Teachers of Visual Impairment, Habilitation staff, third sector staff and healthcare professionals.
