How will you use what you have learned today?

I will photocopy the pre-braille assessment crib sheet, which will be a useful tool to work towards with the children I work intensely with. I will also use the braille-tracking book with both the parents and children. I will also get the Perkins Brailler out of the cupboard and have a play about.
We will share the information with our colleagues.
Potentially, to think about applying for a job in primary VI teaching!
Make up tactile books. Add to pre-braille resources.
Be more proactive in fostering a link between my LEA (Local Education Authority), SSC and RBS (Royal Blind School).

What was best about the course/event?
The whole day was excellent. The group were super, really nice people. As I'm not a teacher I have felt a little concerned as I've had quite a challenge in my job but here I felt really involved and accepted. Thank you J
Opportunity to discuss things amongst the group as a whole and share experiences.
Learning about the education experience for younger braille pupils and small children.
Activities session really made me even more acutely aware of how much information is taken in, in such a short time through our vision, compared to touch only. This has huge implications for the way in which we should work and communicate with our young people.
Meeting with those who have experience of working with VI children and picking up lots of great ideas. Thanks!
Meeting experienced, qualified staff and learning from them. Flexibility to suit needs of course participants.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

A tour of the School would have been really interesting - with some time to observe teaching in practice (although I do appreciate that this may not be practical). Extend course length! Want more. It's been really inspiring.
