Professional Update: Are you ready?

Since August 2014 all GTCS registered teachers have to participate in Professional Update (PU). Engagement in professional learning is an integral part of the PU process and the revised Professional Standards have been designed to help identify, plan and develop this. Areas covered on this one-day course:

  • What is Professional Update?
  • How to set up a GTCS account
  • What is Professional Learning?
  • Self-Evaluation
  • Linking Professional Standards to Teacher of the Deaf/Teacher of the Visually Impaired competencies
  • Using research methods to collect data to show impact

This course explored Professional Update and what it means for teachers in Scotland. The participants will have gained a better understanding of how they can best identify, plan and develop their own professional learning using the standards. The impact of the course will be increased confidence in using Professional Update, better identification of learning needs and as a result better outcomes for children.
