Meet the Paige Connect and BrailleDoodle

Presented on Thursday, 6th February 2025

Content

In association with our friends at Sight and Sound Technology, we were delighted to host this exciting webinar. As we celebrate 200 years of the invention of the Braille code, we are aware, more than ever, of the importance of Braille in affording equal access to the curriculum and the devices on show at this session were sure to pique your interest!

Paige Connect transforms the classic Perkins Brailler for instant translation and gamified learning on any device. Simply remove the base from your Perkins, replace it with the Paige Connect board, connect the Paige Connect to USB power and connect to any Bluetooth enabled device that can access the internet.

The BrailleDoodle is an affordable, refreshable two-sided tablet for teaching Braille and creating tactile graphics. Using small ball bearings and a magnetic stylus, users raise each dot to create braille characters and graphics. Simply press down on the ball bearing to erase the graphic. This allows someone to write and create, feel as they go, and erase with ease, making it an excellent learning aid for STEM and art concepts. The Braille learning side allows users to explore 'no fail' examples and practice spaces for letters, numbers, some symbols, and sight words. Two rows of 19 Braille cells beneath allow the user to write and read words and complete sentences.
