How will you use what you have learned today?
As a new recruit to VI teaching, I will use many aspects of what I have learned today to help build my initial awareness of Transitions for VI pupils and support children in my authority 0-18.
To improve transition process from nursery to primary.
Inform SMT at work and arrange to review our current transition arrangements.
Implement ideas with some of my primary pupils who are due to move up to secondary.
I will use the information received to improve my awareness of needs for the visually impaired child I am working with.
Interesting to hear of different approaches in different authorities; some good ideas which could be implemented by my authority.
This has made me more aware of issues outwith my experience to do with transition - especially from secondary to FE/HE.
Will use some of the information to improve my own knowledge base. Will pass on info to colleagues. Will use info to improve provision for pupils.

How would you rate the following: Excellent = 1; Poor = 5

Sharing ideas/learning what happens in other authorities.
Speakers are currently working in VI; range of stages and different practice in the various Education Authorities.
The easy manner of speakers.
Nursery to school transition, as I will be involved with this. Child's induction, environmental risks.
All presenters delivered very well.
It is crucial to understand the issues surrounding children who are moving from one sector to another in order to support effectively.
Very good handouts. Presenters' knowledge/skills very good.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?
Almost too much for one day but really worthwhile.
Pace - more time for each slot!
It would be better over a 2 day course.
More time for presentations but I know that this would probably not be practicable in a day.

Any other comments regarding the course?
