This refresher course concentrated on revising the skills necessary for carrying out pre-cane and sighted guide procedures. The emphasis was on understanding and teaching the techniques for good safe travel whilst encouraging the child/young person to be as independent and involved in the whole procedure as possible. This was a whole day session and will involve use of sleep shades and/or simulation specs.

Target Audience: professionals (QTVIs, Mobility Specialists in Education) responsible for teaching pre-cane and sighted guide skills to visually impaired children/young people.
