Will you do anything differently as a result of today's training?

Improved my capability of conducting Functional Vision Assessment (FVA).
Refreshing my kitbag for assessing young children and children with complex needs.
Look at our standardised materials in greater depth.
New to the service, so this has been invaluable. I can now investigate all our assessment tools and understand them more fully.
Approach to use of non-standardised assessments.
Remembering N size and computer size.
Colour vision testing.
It helped solidify my knowledge of the FVA. It also gave me new ideas to conduct the FVA.
Yes, definitely; to re-look at what I've been doing and how to do it differently.
Yes - going to try Sonksen Scale and Perkins eLearning - Lilli Nielsen.
Was introduced to more resources - Nielsen and Oregon (to order!), Sonksen (to make!)
Yes! To not panic so much when I look at the Developmental Journal!
Will now ask to observe at a local clinic to see this in action and will try myself in my setting. Changing how I do FVA.
Continue to do what I'm doing more confidently!
Will go away with an idea of what to research prior to doing the course.
Hopefully I'll be able to put into practice assessment methods as, so far, I have been an observer.

Hands-on, examining and exploring the various test/assessment items. The opportunity to try out the assessment resources.
Practical session.
Hands-on info about resources and materials.
The afternoon session - assessing children with complex needs and the overview of the Developmental Journal and the Oregon Project.
Better understanding of how to use tests and good pointers for future reading.
The reading list and having a go at the test.
Good refresher of assessment methods.
Awareness into a future course. I really enjoyed the day, I found it very interesting and the days structure was presented in a visual/practical way.
Being able to become familiar with the assessment materials available.
Very informative and useful for my practice.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

Video clips of children being assessed.
I would like more on babies and complex needs.
Something more practical in the afternoon as well as the verbal input.

What other CPD training would you like the SSC to provide?

I'll be looking for more opportunities to access training for self and staff from/in Ireland.
A free course, if possible, on mobility and habilitation from a TVI perspective. Thank you!

The purpose of a peripatetic teacher when a pupil is less severely visually impaired. Many courses advise on severe VI but what do I do to support pupils where the VI is significant but not severe?
