Pre-Braille Skills

"Pre-Braille Skills" is a short film showing a 3 year-old blind child in mainstream nursery, working with a peripatetic visual impairment teacher. The little girl has no residual vision and no additional difficulties. At the time of filming she was in her 'ante-pre-school' year.

The film shows the little girl completing a few tasks, developing pre-Braille skills. These include:

• object recognition
• the concept of 'sameness'
• the concept of 'a pair'
• shape recognition
• manipulative skills
• familiarity with books (top and bottom of the page)
