School to Resource Centre This report is the summary of the first year of a three year European School Development Project funded through the Comenius 1 Action. Comenius is part of Socrates, the EU's programme for education, offering financial support to schools wishing to participate in transnational education projects. The aim of the project is to investigate the potential for special schools for the visually impaired to develop a resource centre role to support all pupils with a visual impairment, regardless of their educational placement. The partners for the project are the Royal Blind School, St Joseph's School for the Visually Impaired in Dublin, The High School for Visually Impaired Students in Prague and Ekeskolan/Resourcentre Vision from Orebro, Sweden. Contributors I would like to express thanks on behalf of Brian Allen, Ivan Antov, Kent Lundkvist, Kevin Tansley and myself to the staff in all of the partner schools who have contributed to this School Development Project. In particular, we would like to mention: Marjorie Adams, Anne Marie Costelloe, Carrie Mannion, Iain Prain, Grace Stuart and Alison Thomson for the documents they have produced which have enabled this report to be compiled. Thanks also to Jenny O’Neill for her assistance in producing this report. Rob Jones Introduction | SSC |
