Will you do anything differently as a result of today's training?

Raise awareness of key aspects e.g. cases with wider team.
Listen more, emotional coaching.
Research and reading into emotional coaching. Utilise with one of our pupils in particular.
Think about what's beneath the "iceberg" for some of my VI children.
Ensure I maintain the use of emotion coaching when listening.
Look at the back story, treat the child as individual.
More aware of emotion coaching.
Focus on listening instead of fixing situations. Think more about how I speak to my pupils. Choosing my words carefully.
Not try to "fix" everything but empower child.
Reflect on my own practice, and question the authority-wide approach to mental health.
Be more conscious, try to build on the knowledge and apply.
Use emotion coaching. Remember to listen more and that I can't fix it myself.
Improve listening skills and evaluate more!
Be more aware, try to apply emotion coaching more effectively, strive to improve self-care!
Emotional coaching, ACE information, ACT.
I will discuss what I have learned with colleagues and consider how we might put some of what I have learned into practice.
Shut up more. Look again at procedures with staff around support (I think we are doing quite well, but there's room for improvement.). Try to look after myself more.

How would you rate the following: Poor = 1; Excellent = 5

Pacing of course/event

4.29

What was best about the course/event?

Discussion about each relevant area on the programme; raised awareness of the relationship between: resilience/neglect/trauma.
Real link between theory and practice.
Information regarding emotional coaching and the red flag signs.
Emotional coaching. Highlighting my own style, certainly caused me to reflect on my own practice.
Bibliography; other references given, which can be followed up especially re. deaf children and children with complex needs.
"It's not about the nail" video clip - very memorable and will remind me to listen!
Emotional style.
Resources, personal experiences.
Location and the presenter.
Networking with other professionals (2). Mental health red flags. Self care wheel. Emotional coaching good.
Time given to discuss scenarios/discussion and then feeding back and the discussion that arose from that. Talking about real situations and problems that we face and how we deal with them.
Great resources to look at afterwards.
So many resources to research.
Varied discussions/approaches looked at.
Interesting concepts to take away.
Good knowledgeable trainer.
Sharing information, resources, etc.
Lots of further reading, resources etc. to follow up on content of course.
Self-care wheel and emotional coaching. Hand brain model information, the science of resilience.
Resources. Pointers. Ideas.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

More strategies to support children.
Less time on activities re. child/children we know; more research and information re. approaches to support positive changes and positive mental health in the long run.
Offer handouts via email or on the day to support people who require them.
Having slides sent out beforehand; having materials in consistent, accessible forms. (2)
This course did not cover anything that wasn't addressed during my year at teaching college at the start of my career. Felt it could have gone beyond the basics.
More examples (video clips?) showing good practice ... ?
Perhaps thinking what a positive mental health ethos would look like. Design a high school that works.
More practical skills and strategies (emotional coaching was done well ... more like this).
Better room facilities. A bit cramped.
More breaks - mid morning and mid afternoon. More specific on deafness mental health.
Pre-reading to lessen amount of time spent on morning on what we knew. More of the afternoon items please. Less of morning (Theory), more of afternoon (practice).
