Will you do anything differently as a result of today's training?

Seek access to practice questions and aim to request pre-planning with class teachers.
Find out in school about help guidelines.
Seek an SNSA login to access info and share with the team.
Try to acquire a login to access guidance and support.
Contact SNSA Helpdesk to request a login.
Make sure schools are now aware of need for specialist teacher involved.
More confidence to approach schools in ways to support visually impaired pupils, including my role to prepare pupils and/or during assessments.
Very useful to know an out-of-stage assessment is available.
Feedback to team of Sign Language Interpreters working with deaf pupils.
I will log in to look at the guidelines and practice assessments to make me more familiar with the style and content of the SNSA.
I know where to look for additional info.
Try to get a login to view Practice Assessments and talk more knowledgeably re SNSAs to my schools.

Pacing of course/event

What was best about the course/event?

Clarifying severe issues re SNSA.
Information from someone who knows what has already been achieved/expertise.
Practical examples; discussion of real situations.
Links to where to find help; understanding level of support we can offer.
Clear presentation of information. Thanks.
Useful to have the opportunity to raise concerns and issues surrounding SNSA and blind/VI pupils and braille users.
Discussion with presenter and others.
Highlighting it is not for all but majority. Out-of-stage assessments are possible.
Knowledge that assessments are diagnostic, can be chunked and professional judgement is valued - children can access out-of-stage assessments.
Clarity of how we can adapt for hearing impaired pupils. Awareness of being able to use out-of stage-assessments.
Having a specific discussion about additional support needs.
A short session was great.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

Copies of guidance documentation, case study.
Hearing that the Scottish Government will allow access for Braille users. Our pupils with VI should be entitled to having diagnostic information which can support their learning as have their peers.
More time for conversation.
Opportunity to look at some practice questions to discuss challenges for interpreting/delivery. Difficult in the time!
Tech for presenter. In an ideal world SNSAs to be more accessible for severely VI pupils from the outset.

Anything relating to deaf BSL users.
