This course covered and discussed the nature of Autism and the co-occurrence of visual impairment and autism.
There was a demonstration of the guidance for practitioners developed by the Visual Impairment & Autism Project and discussion of the areas covered. The course also included a detailed case study of a young person with visual impairment and autism. Participants had the opportunity to raise issues concerning the children and young people they support.
Target Audience
Practitioners working with children and young people who are blind or partially sighted, teachers, teaching assistants, care workers, habilitation/mobility officers, OTs, physios, Speech and Language Therapists, and educational psychologists.
