Football crazy - Gerry

Bruno thought, 'I'm a substitute, great! But I must get fit for the match that's coming.' He wouldn't give up, he was determined! So on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday... So, on the Saturday, there was going to be the match, so he thought 'Monday to Friday I must train'. He would go to school and when it was finished he would ignore his homework, he'd come back and get training.

Monday what did he do? He put on a track suit with a big roll neck collar and ran and ran and ran and sweat poured from his brow, he was so patient, he just continued.

Tuesday, again he was determined, even more determined this time to head the ball, so he'd throw it against the wall, because his heading had been bad before so he knew he had to practice heading.

Wednesday he still went to school and came home and this time he tried passing, dribbling with his legs.

Thursday, what did he do? He had an idea. Bruno thought and he added cones on the ground, what for? so that he could dribble the ball through the cones as though it was an opponent.

On the Friday he still went to school and when he came home he'd been training a week, he wouldn't give up! Wow! So on the last day he put blue paint and then next to it, white paint and then red in the centre. What was it for? He was going to try and not shoot badly, he wanted to hit the red spot in the centre, so he dribbled a ball, shot and it rebound straight off the red spot; it had rebounded straight off the red spot! He felt that he was capable and that he was fit.
