Thailand story - George

Tags: George, School for deaf, Thailand

When I arrived in the hotel it's always my way, I must see deaf people I must, because it's my way So my wife wrote out the address and we asked people and we found out where the school was. So we traveled there, it wasn't the taxi and we weren't driving, we were on a trishaw and we traveled and arrived at the school.

Ah, and deaf people came towards me. 'Are you deaf? 'Yes, I'm deaf!' And the trishaw man asked us for the money, he was trying to get some more money out of us for the fare, but then he saw that there was some Thailand deaf people there, so we paid the right amount and we went into the deaf school and the children! Oh, they were beautiful! And they signed and then some small people came towards us. 'What what work?' and and 'I'm...' 'What are you?' I understood they were teachers and they were all deaf; they were deaf.

I was surprised so we went in and the children came towards me and signed and they took me into the school and we looked around. 'See... See Top! The headmaster! Come on, see the headmaster.' He was deaf, the headmaster. I was surprised and he signed and fingerspelled and he gave me gifts and they're still at home there, I've got three or four left at home. He signed, but then he had a secretary who was always with him and he gave him the orders to use the telephone, but the headmaster was the deaf person.

No wonder those children were clever, because they were deaf teachers and they would teach the children very hard to make their minds grow.
