BSL Chemistry Glossary - filtration - definition

Definition: To do filtration you use a filter funnel and a round piece of filter paper which you fold into a cone and put in the filter funnel. Then you take a solvent, like water, mixed with a solid. Now you will separate the solid from the liquid. Pour the mixture into the funnel and the water will drip through, leaving the solid on the filter paper.
