BSL Data Science Glossary - Aggregation definition

Definition: Aggregation. Let's say we have a long list of different things. For example, different fruits. The order in the list is random. You want to know how many are of the colour red, and how many are green. First thing you need to do is to aggregate the list by colour. Find all fruit that is red, put that into one list. Find all fruit that is green, put that to another list. Then you can more easily count them to find out how many red and green fruits we have. So that's what aggregation is.
