BSL Data Science Glossary - Filter definition

Definition: Let's say you have a long list of data. You want to specify and filter it. Let's say we have a long list of people and we want to reduce it to only those who are aged over 60. You can set up filtering so that it goes through the list, looking at each person, perhaps one is 30, that's not 60, so don't include that, next is 70, take it, next is 80, yes, eventually you arrive at a smaller list with just people who are over 60.
