BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Acoustic deterrent devices (FISHING) definition

Definition: "Acoustic deterrent device" is a device that is commonly found on fishing nets. This is used to try to stop sea animals from taking the fish, for example, dolphins and seals trying to get into the net to feed on the fish. The device gives off a noise to stop the animals from coming into the net.
