BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Carbon capture and storage (CCS) definition

Definition: Factories that burn fossil fuels release fumes and CO₂ into the atmosphere which is problematic. To avoid this these fumes are diverted into a pipe that leads into an underground geological structure when it is kept and stored. This is an example of carbon capture and storage.
