BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Carbon sequestration definition

Definition: Carbon sequestration is the process of removing CO₂ from the atmosphere. For example, deforestation has historically resulted in CO₂ being released into the atmosphere; this can be reversed by planting more trees that will reabsorb the CO₂.
