BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Chronic effects definition


Definition: Chronic effects of exposure is what happens to someone exposed to ionising radiation, poisons, chemicals over long periods of time. The person is ill for a long time from the effects, the symptoms can be the same as for the acute effects of exposure, but for much longer. These can also take longer to show up and be diagnosed. The person is ill, vomits, and has diarrhoea for a long time.
