BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Cyclone separators definition

Definition: In a cyclone separator, pollutants mix with air and the mixture is spun very fast in a centrifugal action. The air and pollutants are separated in the process - air is pulled upwards and the heavier particles, downwards. The particles are collected in a container for disposal, preventing the particles from being released into the air and polluting it.
