Definition: They are a group of fish that live on the seabed eg cod, plaice.

Demersal (fishing) is a group of fish that live at the bottom of the sea, for example, Cod or Plaice. This is where we know how to find them. The term 'Demersal' is related to fishing - these fish can be caught in nets trawling the nearer the seabed.
