BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Endemic species definition

Definition: An Endemic Species is one that only lives in a specific area. An example would be Kangaroos. Kangaroos live in Australia and are not naturally found anywhere else in the world; only in Australia. The word endemic can also refer to a disease that only naturally occurs in specific regions, for example, Malaria.
