Definition: The human body has two main ways that it communicates with itself - one is the nervous system, and the other is the endocrine system. The endocrine system produces hormones created in the endocrine glands located in different parts of the body - these hormones are released into the bloodstream and control things like metabolism, growth, development and reproduction.
